Leather Standard by OEKO-TEX®

The LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO-TEX® is a worldwide consistent, independent testing and certification system for leather and leather articles of all levels of production. Examples of articles that can be certified are: semifinished leather products (e.g. Wet-blue, Wet-white, Crust etc.), finished leather, leather fiber material, ready made articles (garments of all types, accessories, leather gloves, leather handbags, leather covers and much more).

The basic concept of the OEKO-TEX® tests for harmful substances has been for 25 years now to ensure the highest possible degree of human-ecological product safety for consumers, regardless of the materials the tested sales items are made of.

With the LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO-TEX® it was consistently pursued the philosophy that testing for harmful substances should be applicable to as many products available in the market as possible, thus contributing to an effective consumer protection.

A third-party label allows manufacturers and sellers of leather articles to visibly and transparently document their product stewardship, and provides consumers with a reliable tool to support their buying decisions.

As an established material research and testing institute for the tanning and leather industry and their customers in the automotiv, upholstery, clothing and shoe industry the test lab of the institute provides testing and certification of leather and leather products in accordance with the Leather Standard by OEKO-TEX®.
