Leather compact
Leather compact November 14 and 15, 2017
Leather counts between the oldest materials used by humans. Despite all the technical substitutes, it is still a popular and important natural material, which is used mainly in the clothing, shoe, automobile and furniture industries. Leather has been used for protection and jewelleryfabrication since humanity's beginnings and today it has to meet a wide range of quality requirements with regard to processability, utility and durability. In other words, leather is a high-tech material. Unlike technical materials, whose properties can be precisely adjusted within the technological limits, leather is an "emotional" natural material - every skin is unique with individual characteristics.
The seminar gives a material understanding for the material leather to the participants in a compact form. On the first day of the seminar, all important aspects of leather production will be clarified, starting with the raw material up to the various production technologies and the property features and / or leathers types which can be produced with it. The newly acquired knowledge is practically illustrated with a guided tour through the institute's own leather technology and the testing laboratory.
The second seminar day focused on the ecological aspects of leather production as well as to the examination and characterization of the leather and also its processing. The seminar ends with a final discussion and a questions-Answers session.
Please noticed that, all seminars are held in German.
